Her heart was racing as she wrapped her sweaty palms around the steering wheel and pulled into a local bar parking lot. “Lip gloss, gum, phone, cash,” she mumbled to herself as she stuffed her necessities into her new Louis Vuitton Neverfull leather purse.
She looked in the mirror, blew herself and kiss and reminded herself how beautiful she was. Sugaring was nothing new to her. She had already had the pleasure of meeting a plethora of successful charming potential Sugar Daddies who were more than willing to shower her with gifts and allowances, but meeting a new POT always made her a little nervous. What if he looks different than his photos? What if he we can’t find anything in common to talk about? As a brown Sugar Baby, she was of course open to the idea of an interracial arrangement, but that always added a different element of surprise especially on the first date.
A few spritzes of her favorite Chanel No 5 perfume, and she began walking up to the door. To her surprise he was in the lobby waiting for her fashionably late arrival.
He was a tall silver fox with beautiful blue eyes and a smile to match. The attraction between them was undeniable. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and they followed the host to their candle lit table. He pulled her seat out and placed her cardigan around the back of her chair. So far, she was pleased.
This man definitely knew how to charm a lady. But she knew the hardest part was up next. How in the world was she supposed to entertain this beautiful man without saying something completely awkward? He started the conversation off first about his family and his latest vacation to Cabo San Lucas.
She tried to focus on the the conversation but it was hard. Dressed in a clean v-cut black tee shirt and dark wash jeans, his smile was hypnotizing and he smelled like Giorgio Armani cologne. He fell silent after a moment forcing her to snap out of her day dream. “I’m so sorry,” she apologized; “What was your question?” He just smiled and complimented her on how cute she was.
They stayed at that candle lit table and talked about anything and everything for about 2 hours. He loved sports. She didn’t know too much about it but could carry on a conversation. He explained how football worked and how each position played a role. He played ball back in college and she could tell how much he loved the game by they way his eyes lit up as he reminisced on his glory days.
“Note to self: Google football tonight and learn everything there is to know about it.” She whispered to herself. He also loved to travel and told her about all the exotic vacations he would take to get away from the south every now and then. He went on about his profession as a business owner and how much he loves it but it can also be stressful. She listened and commented when necessary, but mostly listened.
It wasn’t until they looked up and realized they were the last two customers in the bar that they decided it was probably time to go. He took care of the bill and walked her to her car.
“I have to be honest,” he started “I was really nervous to meet you for the first date tonight but I think we really hit it off. I love the chemistry.” She smiled and thought about how nervous she was and felt a little silly. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and they went their separate ways.
Moral of the story is that most POTs are just as nervous, if not more, to meet up for the first date. Just be yourself, dress for success, and when in doubt, be a good listener. Anyone can talk about themselves for hours on end, but to be able to listen, comprehend, and contribute to an intelligent conversation will take you very far in the Sugar dating world.
