Nothing says maturity and sophistication like being being a great host. You, too, can have your place looking the part to really impress Daddy! Inviting him over is a big step and a way to show him you are relationship material.
When he arrives at your place, the first thing he will notice is the smell. Each home has a distinct scent and you don’t want him smelling yesterday’s gym socks or bad leftovers. Take out the garbage and spray air freshener. Candles are your friend. Light them. Not only can they mask smells, but they also create a relaxing atmosphere.
Understand organization and clean are different when it comes to the overall cleanliness of your home. You need to take the time to deep clean your sanctuary, even if it isn’t something you enjoy doing. Dust, scrub the toilets, and clear the dried water spots of the mirror. You want him to feel welcome and comfortable. Your home is a reflection of you.
While you are preparing for his visit, leave something out that will spark his interest. Whether it’s the latest novel you can’t put down or recent photos from a hiking trip, leave subtle yet interesting aspects of your life around. These are glimpses of your life you can share with him without saying a word. If he is genuinely interested in you, he will take the time to observe everything in your home. Be sure you wear something cute but casual, like yoga pants and a tank top, or a sundress. He’ll be looking at you too!
Think of any get together you’ve ever gone to. Whats the most basic thing that is considered a must have? Food of course! If you’ve always considered yourself more of a Marilyn Monroe type than a Betty Crocker type, don’t panic. You can still land a homemade meal. We’ve included Brook’s appetizer, signature starter meal, and dessert recipes below.
But how do you know if someone is trustworthy enough to invite over? It is important to only open your doors to someone with whom you have already established a rapport. This is third or fourth date level at the earliest. You need to set the tone by making it clear that coming over doesn’t necessarily mean sleeping over. He should not arrive with any expectations. Remember, your house is your sanctuary. You make the rules.
